Dear Elder Sorensen:
You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Brazil Rio De Janeiro Mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 24 months.
You should report to the Sao Paulo MTC(Missionary Training Center) on Wednesday, 27 July 2005. You will prepare to preach the gospel in the Portuguese language. Your mission president may modify your specific assignment according to the needs of the mission.
The rest is a bit personal. I am very excited!

Had a great night. Finished my mission papers. All I have to do is go get that passport sized picture of me (well groomed and well dressed it says) and stick it on there - interview with the Stake President - and I'll be leaving on a mission hopefully in a month from this week. barbara silva is talking to me online and making up words:
babebarb123 [4:24 P.M.]: dummby Peter112785 [4:25 P.M.]: dummby is not a word. not in english. babebarb123 [4:25 P.M.]: UUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH babebarb123 [4:25 P.M.]: I AM SO DONE TALKING TO YOU I feel pretty great these days. I love life; it seems so sweet, so rich - I wish I could share this feeling with all of you, every last one of you - friend or foe. No matter what happens during the day, when I prepare to go to sleep, happiness consumes me, and when I wake up the following morning, I am so happy to be alive.
Daniel Benzion got a mission call: Salt Lake City South Mission, to report to the MTC April 20th. (Curtis is SLC North). While filling out my papers, I had an impression that I would be speaking spanish on my mission, but I'm not sure if it was my own thought or not. I'm leaning towards 'my own thought'. We'll soon find out. I've got a recommend to recieve my Patriarchal blessing. I am quite excited about that. Anyway - I hope everyone is taking advantage of spring break and livin' it up!
-end- P.S. check out a website that features our buddy Jared Workman!!!

the past few days, as i've briefly thought about the accident, for me it's mostly been about what their families are dealing with, the physical pain these two surviving women are going to experience, i've heard rumors that Nikki could be blind as a result and i can barely begin to comprehend what she will have to face then, i can only try to think of how i would respond to something like that, which is impossible. my heart goes out to those who knew Miguel, and i hope any of you reading this can help be a positive influence to others. Sara and Nikki were in my graduating class, and I only knew Sara in passing, and Nikki barely more than that. i don't think i would have responded to it any different if it was Jared who was in the accident. anyway, what i was thinking is - everyone that knew Miguel has already been able to start thinking about it and dealing with it, while two of his friends lived and as far as i know, due to coma's, don't know he didn't make it. that's going to be quite hard for them and i hope a friend of theirs will be there to mourn with them. my other point to this. some of you may have been there when Jared, Alexis (irizarry), and I came with the two missionaries, or Elder's as we refer to them, from our Church to offer to their families a priesthood blessing on their daughters. I know a couple people were aware when Alexis and the Elder's preformed a priesthood blessing on Sara Luongo, and no one was there besides close family when I returned with my father and a friend to offer a similar blessing to Nikki and her mother accepted. So here is an explanation of what we did (for those who are interested):

"Every friend says, "I too am a friend"; but some friends are friends only in name. Is it not a sorrow like that for death itself when a dear friend turns into an enemy? O inclination to evil, why were you formed to cover the land with deciet? Some companions rejoice in the happiness of a friend, but in time of trouble they are against him. Some companions help a friend for their stomachs' sake, yet in battle they will carry his shield. Do not forget a friend during the battle, and do not be unmindful of him when you distribute your spoils."

259 - Two Little Boys |
] |
Great song - just heard it preformed by 259. If you can find it, listen to it. Two Little boys had two little toys and each had a wooden horse. Daily they played each summer day and soldiers were both of course. One little lad had a mishap and broke off his horses head and he wept for his toy but he cried out in joy when the other one smiled and said, “Did you think I would leave you cryin’ when there’s room on my horse for two? Climb up, we’ll soon be flyin’; he can go just as fast with the two. When we grow up we’ll be soldiers, and our horses they won’t be no toys and I wonder if we will remember when we were two little boys.” Childhood had passed; The war came at last, and proudly they rode away. Bombs burst aloud and through the mad crowd wounded and dying Jack lay. Up comes a shout, a horse pushes out, out from the ranks of the blue, and galloped away to where Jack lay and then came a voice he knew, “Did you think I would leave you dyin’ when there’s room on my horse for you? Climb up, we’ll soon be flyin’ to the boys of the ranks of the blue. Did you say I was all a tremble? Well, it might be the cannons noise, or it might be that I can remember when we were two little boys.”
Happy Birthday! You finally get to join the ranks of the relief society...lucky woman.

| The Godhead |
[Wednesday, November 3rd, 2004
@ 1:54pm] |
|
That the unity of the Godhead is not oneness in person is made very clear in the account of the baptism of Jesus Christ; the Son on that occasion coming up out of the waters of Jordan, the Holy Spirit descending upon him in the form of a dove, and the voice of the Father from heaven proclaiming, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." (Matthew 3:16-17) Jesus said, "I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world." Again, "I leave the world and go to the Father." (John 16:28) He also prayed the Father, and in the prayer recorded by John explained in unmistakable language what he meant when he declared, "I and my Father are one." After praying for his apostles, he said: "Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their words, that they all may be one, as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us. That the world may believe that thou hast sent me." (John 17:20-21) Concerning the Holy Spirit he said: "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you." (Chap. 16:7) Many more of the sayings of the Savior might be adduced, but these are sufficient to show the distinct personality of each of the three that form the Godhead, while they are in perfect unity of mind and purpose and action. If they are one substance, as taught in modern Christendom, then all who believe on them, in all ages, are to be made also one substance, thus losing their identity and becoming one vast, incomprehensible and inconceivable finality.

A testimony is not thrust upon you; a testimony grows. We become taller in testimony like we grow taller in physical stature; we hardly know it happens because it comes by growth. It is not wise to wrestle with the revelations with such insistence as to demand immediate answers or blessings to your liking. You cannot force spiritual things. Such words as compel, coerce, constrain, pressure, demand, do not describe our privileges with the Spirit. You can no more force the Spirit to respond than you can force a bean to sprout, or an egg to hatch before it’s time. You can create a climate to foster growth, nourish, and protect; but you cannot force or compel: you must await the growth. Do not be impatient to gain great spiritual knowledge. Let it grow, help it grow, but do not force it or you will open the way to be misled.

"For I, the Lord God, delight in the chastity of women. And whoredoms are an abomination before me; thus saith the Lord of Hosts." Woman is "one of the fairest gems of all God's creation." She is the epitome of everything virtuous, lovely and praiseworthy. And chastity is her crowning glory, her most precious possession. Its loss is one of the saddest things that can befall her. Death itself is a lesser thing by comparison. Indeed, more than one prophet has considered the death of his children preferable to their loss of innocence. Such an attitude is alien to these times; it reflects the spirit of a bygone era when chastity was a more closely guarded and highly prized endowment than it is now. These days call for more mercy than justice, more compassion than condemnation and more vigilance than unquestioning trust. It is an evil hour; virtue will not triumph by default.
